What are Open interest limits?

Open Interest (OI) Limit defines the maximum number of open futures or options contracts allowed for a specific derivative, to ensure orderly trading and risk management.

  • Client-wise Limit: A single client can hold up to 5% of the total OI for the same underlying asset.
  • Trading Member (Broker) Limit: Brokers can hold up to 15% of the total OI for the same underlying.
