A Day Order is a type of order validity that remains active only for the duration of the trading day on which it is placed.
When you place a Day Order:
- The order stays open in the system until it is either fully executed or the trading session ends.
- If the order is not matched/executed by the end of the trading day, it is automatically cancelled by the system after market hours.
Example:
You place a Buy Limit Order for 100 shares of XYZ Ltd. at ₹500 as a Day Order.
- If XYZ’s stock reaches ₹500 or lower during the day, your order will be executed.
- If the price does not reach ₹500, the order will expire and be automatically cancelled after the market closes.
